I’ve been using the Google Pixel since the Pixel 2, I recently upgraded to the Google Pixel 5 from the Pixel 4 and wanted to purchase a compatible smartwatch. But, with so many options being available, choosing the right felt like a daunting task. Sailing on a similar boat? This article shall surely help you find the best watch for your Pixel device.
As a Google Pixel owner, I’ve been waiting for the rumoured Pixel watch to launch, but there are no signs of it and with Google-Fitbit acquisition getting closer, I hope that they might rebrand and launch it by the next year, but if you can’t wait for one, then you must consider getting a watch that’s compatible with your Pixel 4 or 5.
One of the most important things to consider when getting a smartwatch is compatibility with your smartphone. For instance, Even though, the Apple Watch 6 is highly feature-rich, it won’t work with your Google Pixel. Thereby, you’re left with watches that come with WearOS, Tizen OS (Samsung watches), and other operating systems such as Garmin OS.
Whether you own the latest Google Pixel 5, Pixel 4, 4A, 4XL or the previous gen Pixel 3 (3, 3A, 3XL, 3A XL) or even the oldest Pixel 2 (2, 2XL), the smartwatches in this list will surely work with your phone. Not only that, the models listed would work with the upcoming Google Pixel 6 as well.
Also, you shouldn’t just pick a random watch, before purchasing one, you should ask yourself a few questions such as: Does it have specific fitness tracking requirements? Or do you want a simple watch that performs the basic activity tracking without too many bells and whistles? Whatever your wearable requirements are, you’ll find the right option in this list.
Everyone has different expectations & requirements from a smartwatch. So besides compatibility with your smartphone, you should also look in at those features before making a purchase. Here are a few features to consider:
- If you’re a fitness enthusiast – the watch that has accurate activity tracking features shall be well suited for your needs.
- If you’re a basic user who wants a balance between activity tracking and other features such as notifications, attractive watch faces, reminders, etc, then you should consider an WearOS/Tizen OS models.
- If you’re a sports enthusiast, then you should consider a watch that’s has sports tracking features. (I’ve made lists for swimming and hunting.)

8. Best For Activity Tracking: Nixon Mission
- Operating System: Wear OS by Google
- Display: 1.39-inch AMOLED Touchscreen
- Battery Life: Up to 2 days
- Built-in Sensors: GPS, Altimeter, Thermometer, Barometer, E-compass, Humidity, and Ambient light sensor.
- Water resistance: 10 ATM
- Compatibility & Connectivity: Android, iOS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi.
Although this smartwatch is not targeted towards athletes and serious sportspeople, the Nixon Mission smartwatch Either tried and tested product with amazing features and extremely good looks.
Let’s start with the looks. It is a stunning and lightweight watch that will attract the eye of the onlooker, no matter where you go. The timekeeping screen of the watch, just like other smartwatches, can be customized to look exactly how you want it to. You can pair it with your unique style so that it fits the bill on every account.
However, it should be noted that the actual styling of the watch is a little bit aggressive, so it may not be the one for those of you who want a sleek and sophisticated smartwatch. It is more on the rugged side than classy.
Now coming to the features. I have to admit that although it has all the sensors that it needs for tracking fitness data, it is not that great at record keeping. From the design of the watch as well as its functionality, it is clear that you will need extensive customization to record and view your training statistics, which may be a dealbreaker for those of you who want a smartwatch precisely for this purpose.
Having said that, the Nixon Mission does have a GPS antenna to track your mileage and speed when you are walking, running, or cycling. But other than that, the data is quite limited. It does not come with a lot of features like heart-rate sensing, accelerometer, sleep tracking, extensive navigation (supports Google Maps), Etc. Interestingly, the few features that it does have, like step count and GPS, are fairly accurate.
It is clear that the Nixon mission Is not meant for fitness tracking exclusively. You could even say that this particular aspect is more of an afterthought for this device, instead of the focus. What Nixon does very well is integration with your smartphone so that you can receive your notification, texts, and calls right there on your wrist.
It also has the battery life that will last you for a very long time. In fact, you may be hard-pressed to find a smartwatch that has better battery life than the Nixon. All in all, I would say that this is a great smartwatch for the layman who doesn’t train regularly, but for athletes and hardcore workout nuts, this may not be the ideal purchase.
- Robust body, built to last long
- Water resistance and anti-corrosion
- Strong battery life
- Rugged design, not sophisticated or classy
- Training and tracking system for fitness does not have that many features
- Difficulty to set up fitness tracking features
9. Best Yet Cheapest: Skagen Falster 2
- Operating System: Wear OS by Google
- Display: 1.2-inch AMOLED Touchscreen
- Battery Life: Up to 24 hours
- Built-in Sensors: Accelerometer, Altimeter, NFC, Gyroscope, GPS, and Heart rate monitor.
- Water resistance: 3 ATM
- Compatibility & Connectivity: Android, iPhone, Bluetooth.
The Skagen Falster 2 Is probably the most beautiful smartwatch that you will ever lay your eyes on. Its simple and elegant design brings with it the good looks that you always wanted in your smartwatch. paired with its high functionality and utility, there is no reason why it shouldn’t be your companion for workouts and training.
Its slim bezel and the thin case will steal your heart. It is also quite comfortable to wear and the shape of the lugs is sloped down so that there is no gap between the watch straps and the wrist, giving it a unique and sophisticated look. The design of the watch is quintessentially unisex, so both men and women can rock it without any issues.
The screen is 1.2 inches in size, and big enough to see time and any and all notifications without having to pull your watch close to your face. It also has an AMOLED screen that is 390 x 390 in resolution, giving you crystal clear views even in direct sunlight. But the one area where the smartwatch could have been better is performance.
It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, which is quite dated and this really shows in the performance of the watch. That is not to say that it is sluggish or bad, but it is only decent – not spectacular. You may feel that apps are a little slow to open and asking questions on Google Assistant can seem choppy.
The Skagen Falster comes equipped with a variety of sensors to make your life easier – like NFC, GPS, and heart rate monitor. The latter is quite accurate and precise and automatically records your heart rate every 20 minutes. You can also sync this data with your Google Fit app and see it better over time. The same goes for GPS, which is accurate and precise enough.
Another drawback of this watch is its battery life. It has a 300mAh battery which, if you use the GPS and heart rate monitor on the regular, will not last you more than a day. All in all, the device is pretty good for its price range, but there are certainly some not so great things worth keeping in mind.
- Compact and sleek design
- Lightweight and slim fit
- NFC, Google Pay, Heart rate available
- Waterproof till 3 ATM pressure
- Poor battery life
- Sluggish performance
- Does not have many of the fitness features that other watches do
The Verdict

Each of the brands is a superior name in the market, and you can rest assured that what you see is what you will get.
Now, it is up to you to decide which one of the products works best for you.
